The Slot is a free fishing companion app. This policy explains what data the app accesses and how it is handled. The short version: the app does not store your personal data on any server, and does not collect anything about you for the developer's own use.
Location. With your permission, the app accesses your device's location to find the nearest tide stations, retrieve local marine and wave conditions, and center the map. Your location is used to request data from third-party public APIs (see below). It is not stored on any server operated by the developer, not linked to your identity, and not shared with anyone other than those services for the purpose of those lookups.
Catch log and app data. Any catches, notes, or settings you record are stored only on your device using local storage. This data never leaves your device, is not transmitted to the developer or any third party, and is not backed up to any service controlled by the developer. Uninstalling the app deletes it.
The app retrieves data from the following public APIs. In each case, location-derived coordinates are sent solely to obtain the relevant data, and no personal identifiers are transmitted:
Each service's handling of requests is governed by its own policies.
Weather and marine data is provided by Open-Meteo under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) licence. Tide and water-level data is provided by NOAA CO-OPS.
The app contains no analytics, no advertising, no third-party tracking, and no user accounts. The developer does not collect, store, receive, or have access to any personal information about you.
The app is not directed at children and collects no personal information from anyone, including children under 13.
This policy may be updated from time to time. The current version will always be posted at this URL.
