Clipper — Privacy Policy
Effective date: March 12, 2026
What Clipper does
Clipper is a Chrome extension that lets you save web pages, copy content as markdown, and create flashcards. It syncs your saved content to Firebase so you can access it across devices.
Data we collect
- Authentication: When you sign in (email/password or Google), Firebase Authentication stores your email address and a unique user ID. This is used solely to identify your account.
- Saved content: Page titles, URLs, excerpts, markdown, and thumbnails of pages you explicitly choose to save. These are stored in Firebase Firestore under your user account.
- Flashcards: Card fronts, backs, and scheduling data for spaced repetition review. Stored in Firebase Firestore under your user account.
Data we do NOT collect
- Browsing history or pages you visit but don't save
- Personal information beyond your email address
- Analytics, tracking, or telemetry data
- Data from other extensions or apps
How data is stored
All data is stored in Google Firebase (Firestore and Authentication) under project a1new-ba642. Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS) and at rest by Firebase. Only you can access your data — Firestore security rules restrict access to authenticated users viewing their own content.
Third-party services
- Firebase Authentication & Firestore: For user sign-in and data storage. Subject to Google Firebase Privacy Policy.
- Anthropic API (optional): If you provide a Claude API key, selected text may be sent to Anthropic's API to generate flashcard answers. Subject to Anthropic's Privacy Policy.
Data deletion
You can delete individual saved pages and flashcards from within the extension. To delete your entire account and all associated data, contact us at the email below.
Changes
We may update this policy. Changes will be posted on this page with a revised effective date.
